Wildlife Pond Creation
Ponds act as mini wetlands and biodiversity hotspots, attracting bees, pollinators, beetles, spiders, hungry birds, bats, and mammals like hedgehogs, as well as improving well-being for volunteers and offering spaces for education sessions.

We’re really excited to have made a start on the creation of the wildlife pond for our Community Garden. Thanks to everyone who came along on Sunday to lend a hand and help out, we had such a great turn out and every little bit of effort from each volunteer made a huge difference in just one day!
We cleared the area of unwanted materials, measured the space, set out the shape and started digging, soil which was dug out was placed in specific locations to be reused as planting mounds.
Others helped clear the nearby areas of unwanted weeds, levelled the area, and then covered the space with bark chips for our seating and gathering space.
Gravel and rocks were gathered from our storage areas to be used around the edges.
Sticks and logs were gathered ready to be placed as habitats for wildlife.
